"Fork, and...water," she decides, trailing after him, her free hand tucking into one back pocket. "Even if I'd have to roll instead of run if I eat all this, or risk siesta time, in which case, the beach is definitely the place to be."
Smiling, and easy-going, because it could go either way, and she'd be fine with it. Fill up on comfort food early in the afternoon, nap away the hot hours, and head out when it gets cooler, or eat half now, and the other later, when they forget dinner, and add in whatever in between. A run, surfing, swim, whatever. They've got all afternoon, and he should probably get out of the house for a little while for a reason that doesn't involve work. "How's Kono?"
Which is just an easy way to ask how the rest of everyone else is, too, because she's never known him to talk about Kono, but not Chin, and Danny usually gets in there, somewhere, too, when Steve is amused and relating the most recent insults against his island or Danny's ability to take offense at literally any words offered.
Wandering into the kitchen, sliding her tote off her shoulder and onto the island top, before leaning onto it, forearms on the cool surface, to wait for her silverware and drink, if he's getting it. Eyes following his movements, crinkled at the edges, because it's Steve, and even if it's been a shit week, it's still good to see him. It's been a while, and that's not unusual, but it just makes that little swell of affection all the sweeter when he's actually right there in front of her.
