Steve carried the box in one hand, and riffled a drawer in the other. Tucked his fork, under his thumb, under his own box. Snagged her a glass, in the same hand as her fork, leaving the cupboard open, and turn back to hold the pair out to her. The rest she could get herself. It wasn't like she didn't know the kitchen as well as pretty much anyone else who'd ever stayed a while here.
Waiting until she took it to lean back on the counter, pulling out his fork and flipping the top. In the middle of cutting up the fried egg and hamburger, mixing everything down those cuts, as he realized that question sort of opened a whole word of things she didn't just know. Reminding him of her telling her about how Delano got out, and Wo Fat jot jacked, but not how or why for anything.
Who else had been involved. There'd been so much. All the dominoes. All his people. He took a bite, thinking.
Hand still raised, half covering his mouth, as he shifted his head, side to side. Because, really, he has to start somewhere.
"Good. Not as good as she wants it to sound like she is, but good. Better than she could be after having herself and her family mixed up in the mess with Delano." But she was strong. Kono was. She bounced back every time, fast and fierce, refusing to let something else kick her down too long. Which Steve would have, honestly, been sad to see go anywhere but back up.
Making him almost regret that he didn't get to lay into Delano before Chin. And. Chin. That was. He'd have to get to that.
